easyJet set to increase flights from London Gatwick to Gibraltar
The UK’s largest airline, easyJet has today announced that during next summer it will be increasing the frequency on its Gibraltar route.
The airline will now be flying an extra four flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This is being done to provide more flexibility to business and leisure travellers.
Flights to Gibraltar from London Gatwick Airport operate all year round with prices starting from just £25.99 (one-way, including taxes).
Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK Director, said: “We’re thrilled to provide extra frequency on this busy route, particularly as the new terminal facilities at Gibraltar Airport will soon be available.
“Famed for its fantastic 426m high rock and steeped in history, Gibraltar offers a great mix of cultures with British traditions, and with the benefit of the Mediterranean climate making it a great beach and city destination and ideal for both business and leisure customers.
“The continued expansion of our Gatwick operation and the fact that we are the airport’s largest airline reflects easyJet’s commitment to providing travellers in the region with the best choice of destinations at the lowest possible fares.”
Joe Holliday, Minister for Transport of the Government of Gibraltar added: “We are very pleased that easyJet has decided to increase the frequency of their flights to Gibraltar from London Gatwick. This route has always shown very high demand and for some time now we’ve had requests for more capacity to be made available on this service.
“The decision shows great commitment from easyJet to their Gibraltar operations and we look forward to welcoming more passengers from Gatwick’s catchment area into our magnificent new air terminal, that will provide an improved customer service for both leisure and business passengers.”
